Ugur Marangoz is a German-born professional poker player, who moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1995 because of his passion for poker. He frequently visited the poker room at the Mirage and even became its manager. With the experience that he gained at the Mirage he gradually started participating in cash games and tournaments.
In his maiden tournament, Ugur Marangoz was placed 8th in Event #1 - Limit Hold'em at the Orleans Open 2004 held on 10th July and took home $1,960. He appeared in the 36th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) and took part in Event #42 - WSOP World Championship – No-Limit Hold'em. He competed with many poker pros around the world and walked away with $28,375.
At the LA Poker Classic - World Poker Tour (WPT) Event Season 4 2006, he entered the No-Limit Hold’em Championship and grabbed $19,930 for his efforts at the table. In the same year, Ugur Marangoz played well in the No-Limit Hold’em at the WPT Invitational – Season 4 and secured 6th place as well as $5,000 in prize money. His good show at the No-Limit Hold’em Tournament fetched him the second runner-up title and $10,090 in cash prize in the No-Limit Hold’em event held on 17 March, 2006.
In July 2007, Ugur Marangoz was placed 6th at the Orleans Open Main Event – No-Limit Hold’em and took home $9,460. A major breakthrough in his career happened in the year 2008, when he took part in the 39th World Series of Poker held at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He outlasted all 480 participants of the event and emerged as the winner. At the final table he went heads-up against Daniel Negreanu, a poker pro from Las Vegas, Nevada, and made a remarkable second-place finish walking away with an awesome $126,671cash prize. In the same tournament, he earned $4,084 in WSOP No-Limit Hold’em (Event #39) on 21 June, 2008.
As of 2008, Ugur Marangoz has made a total earning of $205,570 by participating in live tournaments and cash games.
