A man of many interests, Steve Kaufman started to play poker professionally back in the 1990’s, but he has set a very special record in 2000. During that year, he has made the final tables of three world’s top tournaments, a record yet to be matched: The WSOP where he came in 3rd place and won $570,500, the WPO where he came in 4th place and got $35,793 and the Tournament of Champions.
Steve Kaufman resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he holds a profession in the academia as a professor at the Hebrew Union College. He received his PhD from Yale University and he also holds the title of a Rabbi. Steve Kaufman loves playing poker in Las Vegas. He claims it is played in a serious manner over there. With the will of his great hands in the game he holds a second home unit there as well. Steve loves to divide his time between his academic life in Cincinnati and his leisure time in Las Vegas when the school year is off. In 2006 he participated in the World Poker Open, playing No Limit Hold’em in the super satellite and winning 3rd place, for $10,400. Playing a couple more No Limit Hold’em Tournaments during 2006 placed him in 3rd and 9th places. Steve Kaufman does not stick to just one game type in poker. Rather, he enjoys playing No Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. In January of 2008, Steve Kaufman played H.O.R.S.E in the Binion Poker Classic and was placed 8th with a prize of $3,330. Along his professional years as a poker player, Steve Kaufman has set his high achievements in important tournaments. He reached the final tables of many matches and was placed in top rankings several times to mark him as a respectful player.
