Richard Murnick is an American part-time professional poker player and a part-time financial planner. He is a married man and lives with his four children in Upper Montclair, New Jersey in the United States.

Richard Murnick first entered the live poker tournament circuit in the year 2004, when he participated in the No-Limit Hold'em event of the Trump Classic. He played his hands well in this event and outlasted all the poker pros to arrive at the final table. He finished in second place and walked away with the runner-up title and 16,200 in prize money. In 2006, he participated in the Borgata Winter Open/World Poker Tour Event - Season 4. He efficiently managed to outperform other poker stars to earn prize money worth $14,783 during Event 9 - WPT No-Limit Hold'em Championship. He also participated in the Foxwoods Poker Classic/WPT Event Season 4 tournament No Limit Hold'em event and won $3,764.

Richard Murnick played at the World Series of Poker tournament in 2006 and participated in the 37th Annual World Series of Poker Event #9 - No Limit Hold'em. Later in November 2006, Richard Murnick entered the final round in Event 10 – No-Limit Hold'em at the World Poker Finals/WPT Event Season 5. He outlived the initial final round eliminations to finish in sixth place and made prize winnings of $20,736.

In 2007, Richard Murnick made a great leap in his poker career with his outstanding performance in the 38th Annual World Series of Poker. He took part in Event 38 - WSOP No-Limit Hold'em game and went all the way to the final table. Richard Murnick returned home with the runner-up title and earned prize money worth $417,117 as well as worldwide recognition and fame. Later that year, he added $106,382 tournament earnings to his existing bankroll from the 38th Annual World Series of Poker Event 55 No-Limit Hold'em Championship. Richard Murnick kept adding to his bankroll and stepping higher in his poker career ladder. He completed the No-Limit Hold'em in seventh place and walked away from the World Poker Finals/WPT Event Season 6 with $16,605 in prize money.

In June 2008, Richard Murnick competed with poker pros in the 39th World Series of Poker and made $14,377 from Event 46 - WSOP No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed. As of July 2008, he has made total winnings worth $623,994 through eleven cash games. Within the poker circuit, Richard Murnick has great respect for fellow poker players Pat Brunner and Steve Goodman. Apart from playing poker, he loves to spend time at home playing with his kids.
