Rehne Pedersen was born and raised in Aalborg, Denmark. He started playing online poker in 2002, years before moving into the live tournaments field. This time of playing online poker earned Rehne Pedersen both a great deal of experience and a substantial bankroll. So when Rehne Pedersen decided it was time to go live, he was ready for it both financially and morally.
The first few live poker tournaments Rehne Pedersen took part in were not as successful as he's like them to be. The first tournament that earned him a cash prize was the Limit Hold'em tournament of the Austrian Classics event on September 27th, 2004. In this tournament he made it to the 3rd place but won only $4,391. The next cash prize Rehne Pedersen won in a live tournament was on June 30th, 2005, in the No Limit Hold'em of the Mini Series in Los Angeles, California.
July 2005 was the month when things got moving for Rehne Pedersen. He got into a few No Limit Hold'em tournaments at the 36th Annual WSOP and won cash in two of them, on July 4th and 15th, making a total of $34,015.
Rehne Pedersen started his poker career course as an online poker player, and old habits die hard. Therefore he continued playing online as well as in live tournaments, and so he found himself participating in a $100 buy-in online satellite in which the grand prize was a seat at the 2005 WPT Five Diamond Classic. Obviously, he won.
December 2005 was definitely a life-changing month for Rehne Pedersen. After winning the online $100 buy-in satellite to the 2005 WPT Five Diamond Classic, he traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the tournament. Days went by and it seemed that Rehne Pedersen, who was nearly anonymous at that time, was on his way to success. And although lady luck tends to play tricks from time to time, this was no bluff. On December 16th, 2005, Rehne Pedersen got an early Christmas present in the shape of a WPT championship title and $2,078,185. Isn't it the kind of present anyone would want Santa to leave him in the living room?
Since his surprising triumph over hundreds of professional poker players from all over the world, Rehne Pedersen played many more live poker tournaments and countless online poker tournaments, but hasn't managed to recreate the semi-ransom success he achieved in the 2005 WPT Five Diamond Classic. So far Rehne Pedersen participated in various tournaments such as the Showdown Poker Tour, the Betfair Asian Poker Tour and other WSOP and WPT events. We're most likely to hear about him again soon, but for now he seems to take his time. He can definitely afford it.
