Phillip J. Hellmuth Jr. was born on July 16, 1964 in Madison Wisconsin. To date, Phil Hellmuth is one of the most recognised poker players in the world and was one of the youngest players to make history by winning a main event at age 24. Phil Hellmuth is well-known for his caustic and sarcastic table image, not to mention his frequent battering other players at the end of a loss. Phil Hellmuth has taken on the famous poker nickname of “The Poker Brat” as he is called by his opponents. Phil is one of the youngest poker players to hold 11 gold bracelets at the World Series of Poker, along with five top 10 ranking in the World Poker Tour. Phil has been inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame before he was even 30 years old.

A Brief Phil Hellmuth History

Phil decided to drop out of the University of Wisconsin to pursue a poker career. He has been playing poker for the last 22 years, which all originated in 1988 when he was in 5th place in a Seven-Card Stud High-Low tournament. In 1989 we won the main Seven-Card tournament making him the youngest poker to do so at 24 years. Phil Hellmuth defeated the two-time defending champion, Johnny Chan in a head to head competition. At the 2006 World Series of Poker, Phil Hellmuth captured his record 10th series world poker bracelet in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em. The following year, at the 2007 World Series of Poker, Phil Hellmuth won his record breaking 11th gold bracelet in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event. This poker superstar also holds the world record for the most WSOP cashes and is tied with TJ Cloutier for the most WSOP final tables. Phil Hellmuth is notoriously known for being one of three other players in poker history to win three gold bracelets within a single year. To add more to his poker fame, Phil Hellmuth hold a world record which seems almost impossible to break: he holds three consecutive WSOP wins in three consecutive days which took place April 26-28, 1993. Phil Hellmuth has been compared to the Tiger Wolf of Golf and the Michael Jordan of Basketball.
Phil’s track record for success is indisputable putting at the top of the international poker game. His lifetime achievements in live tournament earnings have totalled over $7,000,000.
