Peter Lawson

Peter Lawson is a professional poker player from Sandy, Utah and is a regular on the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour circuits. Lawson started his live tournament career with a bang when he finished 3rd on the final day of the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship at the 2004 Legends of Poker in Los Angeles. The $272,665 prize money he earned at this event still remains his highest tournament cash.

He followed up his dream debut with his first tournament win at the Plaza Ultimate Poker Challenge in Las Vegas in October 2004. Participating in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event, Peter Lawson beat out 33 other entrants to take home the winner’s check of $8,000. He rounded off a great year with a 3rd place finish in the No Limit Hold'em event at the World Poker Tour Young Guns of Poker Invitational in Las Vegas in December.

Peter Lawson entered three events at the 36th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 2005. In his first event, he finished 47th in the $2,500 Short Handed No Limit Hold'em event, earning $5,295. He then entered the $2,000 Pot Limit Hold'em event, where he finished 14th out of 540 entrants, and took home $8,940. His third event was the $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship where he finished a disappointing 275th in the 5,619-strong field. The $24,365 from this event took his total earnings from that tournament to $38,600.

In 2006, Peter Lawson had one 5th place performance, at Ultimate Poker Challenge in Las Vegas, and two 6th place performances, one at the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship and the other at The Vegas Open, before his standout performance at a Bellagio weekly tournament in July. After finishing 12th in his first $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event and earning $1,735 there, Lawson performed admirably the second time around, finishing 2nd in a field of 149 and earning himself a check of $32,865.

Lawson had an impressive outing at the 38th World Series of Poker in 2007, finishing 4th in the $2,000 Pot Limit Hold'em event. Competing with 598 others for a pool of $1,090,180, Lawson walked away with a cool $72,497.

Peter Lawson’s only noteworthy performance in 2008 came at the Mega Stack Series at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in June. In the $500 No Limit Hold'em event, where 276 entrants competed for a chunk of the $133,860 prize pool, Lawson finished 5th and took home $6,693.
