Paul Maxfield started a pharmaceutical company with his brother and ran the company for 25 years. He retired from his successful business career after he won an awesome $1,698,390 for his second-place finish in the No-Limit Hold’em event held on April 24, 2005, at the Five Star World Poker Classic – World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship Season 3 Main Event. On the final day of the event, Paul Maxfield gave a tough competition to Tuan Le, one of the best poker professional, with the final match extending to a 3-hour session.
For his significant performance at the Midlands Meltdown in the Pot-Limit Hold’em event in August 2002, Paul Maxfield earned a neat $6,130 by securing 3rd place. The European Poker Classics 2002 witnessed some good performances from Paul Maxfield, as he finished 5th in the Pot-Limit Omaha event on October 9, 2002 and took home $6,140. In the same tournament, he made $7,255 in the No-Limit Hold’em event on October 10, for his 7th place finish.
The 15th place in Event #16 No-Limit Hold’em held on January 24, 2003 of Jack Binion World Poker Open (WPO) 4th Year – WPT Season 1, fetched Paul Maxfield a prize amount of $3,564. He got a tidy $1,893 in November 2003 for his 4th place at the Northern Lights Poker Festival in the Pot-Limit Hold’em event. At the Midland Masters, he secured 8th place and walked away with $4,874 in the No-Limit Hold’em event on November 2003. In December 2003, Paul Maxfield had an impressive finish at the Christmas Cracker where he ended as the runner-up and grabbed $16,872 in the No-Limit Hold’em event.
2004 was a lucky and profitable year for Paul Maxfield secured good finishes in the events that he appeared, including two first-place finishes. He played well in three events and managed decent finishes in the 5th Annual Jack Binion WPO – WPT Season 2 held in January. The Euro Finals of Poker witnessed one of the finest performances of Paul Maxfield when he won the first place and a cool $109,568 in Main Event – No-Limit Hold’em (Event #14) in February 2004. He replicated his success in the same month at the Midlands Medley and won the No-Limit Hold’em event and a sizable amount of $76,300 for his first-place finish.
Having been a successful tournament player in Europe, Paul Maxfield started playing tournaments in the United States. He performed well in three events at the 35th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) beginning with a 27th place finish in Event #5 – WSOP Limit Omaha Hi/Lo fetched him $3,100. He improved in ranking in WSOP Pot-Limit Omaha (Event #8) to 8th position and earned a good $17,080. In Event #11 – WSOP Limit Hold’em, he proved his mettle and topped it off with a 4th place finish and took away $38,160 for his efforts.
Paul Maxfield finished 12th at the 6th Jack Binion World Poker Open (WPO)/WPT Event Season 3 in Event #4 – No-Limit Hold’em on January 9, 2005 and grabbed $7,368. His 6th place finish at the 36th Annual WSOP fetched him $20,080 in Event #19 – Pot-Limit Omaha on June 2005.
