Nenad Medic

Nenad Medic

Nenad Medic, who is also known as Serb, was born on December 21, 1983 in the Serbian city Apatin . His childhood dream was to be a famous basketball player. So he started practicing basketball in the home team of the University Of Waterloo, Canada. He was very ambitious about playing in the NBA, so he made great efforts to master the game and become the player he wants to be. But not long after, he realized that basketball is not the thing he wants to spend his life doing and since his results haven’t met his expectations, Nenad decided to stop. At that time his interest was pointed at poker. He started training in online sites with gambling play money, and later realized that poker is a game he can play and win. So it did not take much time before he took his game offline and started playing for real.

It was in January 2005, when Nenad left Canada’s freezing land and his old self with it. He traveled to the World Poker Tour’s Caribbean Adventure and faced 460 of the best players in the world. This was his poker dream come true. After spending hours in battling his opponents, Nenad Medic finally finished 6th and earned a prize bigger than $100 000.

As many people predicted, this achievement was only the beginning of Nenad Medic’s career. A year later he took the third place in Aussie Millions (Australian Poker Championship), where the prize pot was more than two times bigger compared to The World Poker Tour Caribbean. The amazing $275 000 was not bad for the 22 years old Nenad, but of course his win did not surprise anyone. His friends and those who have seen him play have always said that he was “born with skills”.

In total Nenad Medic played more than eleven worldwide tournaments with well known professionals and made very good results. Of them there are two, that really boosted his mastery in poker and reserved his place among the poker stars – The World Poker Finals in 2006 and The WSOP $10 000 Pot-Limit Hold‘em in 2008 . The WPF put Nenad Medic face to face with legends like Mimi Tran and Kathy Liebert on the final table. Standing firm and cool helped Serb win and he collected the prize of $1.7 million.

Finally, in 2008 Serb scored his biggest victory ever: a World Series of Poker bracelet in $10K Pot-Limit Hold‘em versus Team Full Tilt’s pro Andy Bloch. The total prize was nearly $800 000 but all that mattered to Medic were the extraordinary wins over the living legends of poker – Mike Sowers, Phil Laak and Mike Sexton.

Known as a solid cash player, Nenad Medic will forever stand next to the most talented poker players in the world. He has won more than $3.5 million in prizes from online tournaments and live shows, and he earned those for only 5 years. Now he is 26 years old and continues playing poker, carrying the World Series of Poker bracelet and winning in the WPT Championship.
