Minh Nguyen from Bell Gardens, California, also known as "Pokerhost", is a well-known and a very successful American-Vietnamese professional poker player on his own. Still, from time to time people keep confusing him with Men "The Master" Nguyen, due to their common origin and last name. But there is more to the resemblance between the two, as they are actually cousins, and Men Nguyen is the mentor of Minh Nguyen in the field of poker.
After studying whatever he could from his cousin and mentor, Minh Nguyen started participating in live poker tournaments on a regular basis. His first cash winning was in the Fall Vacation tournament in October 2000, where he aimed for the first place and indeed took it, along with $9,500. Ever since then Minh Nguyen has been playing almost non-stop, with an astonishing record of tournaments and winnings. Indeed, Minh Nguyen has become one of the regular participants in the WSOP and WPT events, along with many other tournaments of various poker games.
Even though it took him a few years to get there, Minh Nguyen managed to prove his greatness to the world as he won not a single WSOP bracelet but two, in the years 2003 and 2004. In 2003 he got the bracelet after winning the WSOP Limit 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo tournament, along with $106,020 in the 34th annual WSOP. In 2004 it was the WSOP Pot Limit Hold'em tournament of the 35th annual WSOP that won him the bracelet and $155,420.
Although he plays all sorts of poker games, and he won one of his WSOP bracelets in a 7 Cards Stud Hi/Lo tournament, it seems that his favorite game is Texas Hold'em. Limit or no limit – it doesn't really matter. Minh Nguyen can handle all kinds of Hold'em just as easily.
