Mats Iremark, an upcoming Swedish poker professional, was born in 1982 in Uppsala. He grew up in Motala and moved to Gothenburg for further studies in 2001. Mats Iremark had his first taste of poker when he played 0.5/1krNL cash game with his neighbor, Carl Boman at the kitchen table, but he lost the game. He gradually learnt poker with $5 sngs at Multipoker and is now competent enough to play medium or high cash games.

The French Open – European Poker Tour (EPT) held on 11 February, 2006, brought Mats Iremark to the limelight when he won the first place and an amazing $629,098 in the No-Limit Hold’em. He finished first at the Spring Poker Festival E-WSOP Trial No-Limit Hold’em held on 26 February, 2006 and made $24,129. The 3rd place in the Pot-Limit Hold’em at the Spring Poker Festival E-WSOP Trial on 27 February, 2006 fetched him $9,591. In July 2006, he played at the 37th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) No-Limit Hold’em (Event #31) and earned $5,597.

Mats Iremark managed to secure 18th place at the Bellagio Cup II Tournament No-Limit Hold’em in July and earned $2,700. On 19 September, 2006, Mats Iremark had a remarkable victory at the European Poker Championships/EPT Event Season 3 and walked away with a huge sum of $117,169 in the No-Limit Hold’em (Event #4). His 3rd-place finish at the Austrian Classics/European Poker Masters (EPM) Event Pot-Limit Hold’em in October 2006 fetched him $10,472. In the same tournament, he finished 14th in the No-Limit Hold’em and won $5,295.

In March, Mats Iremark played well at the Bregenz Open 2007 Poker Championship Poker Pages Ranking No-Limit Hold’em to finish 7th and take away $7,733. He was placed 3rd for his remarkable performance in the No-Limit Hold’em of the Hohensyburg Open/EPT Event Season 3 which fetched him $25,688. At the Austrian Classics No-Limit Hold’em (Event #5) which was held on 2 October, 2007, Mats Iremark earned $15,911 for his 4th-place finish.
On 11 April, 2008, Mats Iremark participated in the Swedish Poker Championship No-Limit Hold’em and got $2,903 for his 24th-place finish. The Spring Poker Week No-Limit Hold’em on 28 April, 2008, turned out to be lucky for him as he finished 4th and earned $2,309. In the same tournament, another No-Limit Hold’em event was held on 5 May, where he walked away with the first place and $5,518 as cash prize.

For his brilliant performance at the World Poker Tour Event No-Limit Hold’em on 26 May, 2008, Mats Iremark won the first place and received $106,422. In the same tour, he played in the WPT No-Limit Hold’em Championship and earned a tidy sum of $9,934 for his 20th-place finish.

With 17 cashes earned from the events he has been participating in since 2006, Mats Iremark has made a total of $982,244 which has taken him to ProRank 1 Position – 245. His style of play and consistent winnings has turned him into a formidable opponent. Mats Iremark beat his fellow European poker players, Richard Toth, Erik Fridberg, Vincent Melinn, and Juris Bonders to win Rookie of the Year title in the PokerStars-sponsored Scandinavian Poker Awards.
