Marc Karam, professional poker player was born on August 28, 1980, in Montreal, Canada. When he was two years old, he went with his parents, who are both Lebanese, to Lebanon for a year but soon moved back with his family to settle in Ottawa, Ontario. He completed his elementary education at the McMaster Catholic elementary school and later got his diploma from St. Patrick’s High School in Ottawa. He worked part time as an apprentice for a window and framing company called Transit Glass & Aluminium while pursuing his studies on Glazier & Metal Mechanics at the Ontario Industrial & Finishing Skills Centre. On completing his studies he became a full time employee of Transit Glass & Aluminium and was also a freelancing web designer.
Marc Karam is a big fan of Rey Mysterio Jr., a professional wrestler, and that is how he got his nickname, Myst. He uses this name while playing online poker, and he built his online bankroll playing micro-stakes ($0.50/$1.00 No-Limit Hold’em) games.
In January 2006, Marc Karam made $13,500 and finished 37th at the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure – World Poker Tour (WPT) Event Season 4 - WPT No-Limit Hold’em. He had a remarkable victory at the Grand Final Event – European Poker Tour (EPT)/Pokerstars Season 2 EPT No-Limit Hold’em in Monte Carlo in March 2006, where he finished fourth out of 298 and won a huge amount of $255,571. He earned $3,165 at the Five-Star World Poker Classic – WPT Championship Season 4 No-Limit Hold’em in April 2006. At the 37th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #31 – WSOP No-Limit Hold’em, he managed to secure the 45th rank and got $9,328 in July 2006. In October 2006, Marc Karam won an awesome $169,027 at the North American Poker Championship - WPT Event Season 5 No-Limit Hold’em and finished sixth.
2007 was a very lucky one for Marc Karam for he started off the year by winning $227,802 at the Crown Aussie Millions Championship Event #9 – No-Limit Hold’em Championship finishing sixth in January. He secured the second place out of 706 at the 2007 European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo and won $1.6 million. At the 38th Annual WSOP - Heads Up – No-Limit Hold’em World Championship (Event 31) in June 2007, Marc Karam managed to get the 49th rank and won $9,211. He bagged $48,633 and finished 25th at the North American Poker Championships/WPT Event Season 6 No-Limit Hold’em Championship in November 2007. He grabbed the first place and $11,916 at the Harveys Casino Poker Tournaments WSOP Circuit Event #7 – H.O.R.S.E. in November 2007 and in the following month; he won $16,579 at the EPT Prague – Season 4 EPT No-Limit Hold’em.
In July 2008, Marc Karam won $951 at the Deep Stack Extravaganza Event #43 – No-Limit Hold’em and his total winnings exceeded $2,157,327.
