Many of you may think that Jimmy Fricke is just an ordinary teenager: playing video games, hanging out with friends on Sundays, but that is far from the truth! Mostly known as “Gobboboy”, Jimmy Fricke has been a very successful poker player for a long time now. Despite his age, Jimmy Fricke has been specializing in the game for many years and it shows not only from the prizes he has won, but also from what other players think of him.
Making the kind of amounts of money that many teenagers haven’t even seen in one place yet is not the only thing that makes Jimmy Fricke special. He dropped out of college because his true dream was to become a professional poker player. In 2005 Jimmy Fricke started playing full time online internet poker. No longer than two years later, when he was only 19, he stepped in to the live poker scene and it didn’t take long before he cashed in two major events within only eight days.
After taking 22nd place at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Jimmy Fricke finished 2nd at the Aussie Millions, proving how absolutely talented he his. That performance earned him the prize of over a million dollars.
Jimmy Fricke must have thought that it would be a long shot for a boy his age to be accepted as a professional poker player by all the legends. And maybe he still hasn’t gotten there. But what we know for sure is that he has shown nothing less than talent, devotion to the game and mostly – faith. Everybody wonders – what makes him so good? Many people think that a young boy has the advantage of the youth – a quick and strong mind. But it’s doubtful that that’s the only reason for Jimmy Fricke’s success. Lots of players actually fear Jimmy Fricke – they have heard of his will to play and mostly – his will to win. His gut not only gets him far enough in the game, but also allows him to make the impression every player wants to make – that he is a winner, no matter what. It’s his aggression and his willingness to commit his entire stack, that make Jimmy Fricke believe he has a good read on his opponent. Besides everybody knows Jimmy Fricke’s tie-died shirts and his mildly cocky manner in which he talks to his opponents.
It seems that Jimmy Frickie spends more time at the cash tables as of late, playing Pot Limit Omaha. But cash or tournaments, he obviously wants to be brilliant at anything he plays. Jimmy Fricke cashed in the World Series of Poker Europe 2007 HORSE event, holding the record for the youngest player to ever cash at a WSOP event. As of 2008, Fricke's total winnings exceed $1,300,000. And we are going to be seeing a lot more of Gobboboy in the future for sure!
