Jared Hamby, a poker pro, was born on March 10, 1982 in Elkhart, Indiana. He then moved to Waco, Texas, where he began playing poker at the age of 13, and currently he resides in Henderson, Nevada, United States. Initially he was playing low-stakes limit online which increased his bankroll. It was after attending the Baylor University for a couple of years that Jared Hamby decided to take up poker as a career.

He made his first money finish in Event 39 - No-Limit Hold'em Championship of the 37th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) held on August 10, 2006, in which he won $15,504. One of his significant cash finishes is $82,476, which he won in the No-Limit Hold'em Championship of the 38th Annual World Series of Poker that was held on July 17, 2007. In the No-Limit Hold’em event of the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic/WPT Season 6 on December 4, 2007, Jared Hamby finished ninth and added $10,830 to his bankroll.

In Event 10 WPT No-Limit Hold’em of the Borgata Winter Open/WPT Event Season 6 held on January 31, 2008, Jared Hamby finished in 18th place and won a total sum of $31,966. On April 26, 2008 Jared Hamby was in the money again, when he played in Event 15 WPT No-Limit Hold’em Championship of Five Star World Classic Poker Classic/WPT World Championship-Season 6 and took home a handsome amount of $39,570 in prize money.
