J C Tran, or Justin Cuong Van Tran, was born on January 20th, 1977, in Hong Kong, the youngest of eight children. His Vietnamese parents moved to the USA when He was only two years old. After finishing high school, J C Tran enrolled to the California State University in Sacramento, his home town, and earned a degree in Business Management Information Systems. He started playing poker in the local Sacramento Card Rooms, after his brother introduced him to the game on his 21st birthday. Look where it got him.
The first cash winning of J C Tran was on August 2000, in the Legends of Poker Tournament. Playing No Limit Hold'em, he took the 8th place and $1,550. His next cash winning was only three years later, in March 2003, during the Spring Poker Tournament, where he took the 2nd place and won $1,849. Ever since then, J C Tran has played and still plays in many tournaments, mostly WPT and WSOP tournaments. Many of his winnings are relatively modest, but from time to time J C Tran hits the Jackpot and wins it all. A good example for that would be the No Limit Hold'em Championship in WPT Season 5 (L.A Poker Classic), where J C Tran took the 2nd place and earned his biggest winning so far: $1,177,010. In that same year he was declared player of the year for Season 5 of the WPT. Up until today, J C Tran's tournament winnings exceed $6,000,000, and he is ranked #25 in the all-time money list.
Being single, J C Tran finds a lot of time for tournaments, and his favorite poker game is No Limit Hold'em, which he usually plays in tournaments. Mostly he respects poker player Jerry Patton, and his ambition is to become a highly respected player in poker tournaments and poker cash games, continue his winning streak year after year, win a lot of money and donate to charity.
When he doesn't play professional poker, J C Tran likes to play golf and basketball or go fishing, and likes listening to Hip Hip, R&B and Electronic music.
