The first time that Hung Van La participated in a tournament was back in 1994 in the $ 200 No Limit Hold'em, where he placed 5th and won $ 1,053. Throughout the years he continued to enter in numerous events, but his first big success did not come until May 22nd, 2004 when he participated in the $ 10,000 World Championship Event at the 35th World Series of Poker. Hung Van La did not make it to the front numbers, finishing in 22nd position, but received his biggest cash award - $ 120,000. Also in the same year on October 19th Hung Van La entered the Festa al Lago III Poker Tournament, where he placed 5th and coincidentally won the exact same sum - $ 120,000. Hung Van La was last seen on the poker table in 2006 at the 37th World Series of Poker, where he placed 78th and won $ 4,311.
