Ernest Bennett, a WSOP Bracelet winner, is renowned for his aggressive poker, a trait that has always stood him good in poker tournaments. Currently a resident of Encino, California, United States, Ernest Bennett was born in Canada. A civil engineering graduate, Ernest Bennett started playing poker when he was in school and thereafter he used to play with his friends.
Today, Ernest Bennett is among the best poker players one can find on the tournament circuit. However, Ernest Bennett was not seen on the professional poker scene before 2002 as he did not take poker as a full time profession and played it as a hobby. By 2004, his efforts at mastering the game started producing results as he managed to cash at number of small poker events. The Mini Series, held in June 2006 was the first tournament where Ernest Bennett got his first major winnings; he finished 2nd in the No Limit Hold'em event and made $10,210 as the prize money. This performance was followed by a 6th place finish at the California State Poker Championship where he participated in the Event #4 - No Limit Hold'em and took home $18,240 as the prize money.
Ernest Bennett really arrived at the professional poker scene with his sterling performance at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker, which was held in 2007. Playing in the Event #41 - WSOP Seniors - No Limit Hold'em World Championship, Ernest Bennett finished 1st and pocketed $348,423 as the prize money. This win was historic as it was not decided by a play to the death, rather both the men at the heads up table decided to split the pot right down the middle and in the bargain, Ernest Bennett got to take the WSOP Bracelet. Though the credit of this WSOP Bracelet goes to the negotiation skills of Ernest Bennett, this win cemented his place among the top poker players on the tournament circuit.
Ernest Bennett, till date, has not been a regular to the major poker events. He made his living from the chain of dry cleaners whereas poker was always a hobby for him. However post the WSOP Bracelet in 2007, Ernest Bennett has sold off his business and seems to be playing more poker these days, so one can expect more exciting poker from him in the future poker tournaments.
