Don Zewin

Don Zewin

Don Zewin was born in New York, but his passion for poker brought him to Las Vegas in 1979. A father of three, Zewin has had much success on the poker circuit, so much so, that playing poker is now his full-time job. Zewin has been playing poker for over two decades, and while he played up to 20-hour sessions initially, he now restricts himself to 8-hour sessions, and prefers to play at his leisure, rather than trying to keep up with the circuit events.

Don Zewin’s first major tournament performance came at the 20th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in May 1999, when he made the final table in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em World Championship event. In a competitive field comprising 178 entries, Zewin’s 3rd place finish earned him a cool $151,000. In November that year, he put in another fine performance, this time at the Hall Of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas, where his 3rd place performance in the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event earned him a handsome $60,000.

After a string of quiet tournaments through much of the mid-to-late 90s, Zewin won his first and only tournament event in 2003 at the Bellagio Five-Star World Poker Classic WPT Championship in Las Vegas. Don Zewin beat out 202 other entrants to take home $118,146 of the $295,365 prize pool in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event.

Zewin’s next big tournament came at the Bellagio Festa Al Lago IV in October 2005 in the $10,000 2nd Annual Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship No Limit Hold'em event. In a field of 420 entrants, with a prize pool of over $4 million at stake, Zewin made the final table and finished an impressive 4th with earnings of $189,630.

At the 37th World Series of Poker in June 2006, Don Zewin put in yet another solid display in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event. With $ 3,789,240 at stake and 2,775 other competing for it, Zewin finished 6th, earning himself a handsome paycheck of $126,940. He had a comparatively quieter outing at the 38th edition of the WSOP, only managing 13th and 159th place finishes in his two events, with total earnings of $12,522.

In February 2008, Don Zewin finished 6th in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event at the L.A. Poker Classic, earning him $13,160. A couple of months later, a steady performance in the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the 6th Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas saw him finish at the bottom of the top ten, with earnings of $13,195. He put in another quiet display at the 39th World Series of Poker in June 2008, when he finished 41st in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event, earning him $10,712.

Don Zewin Stats:
