David Robbins

David Robbins

What started off as a pastime with his poker pals turned into a professional career for family man David Robbins. Originally a mortgage broker from Columbus, Georgia, David Robbins took poker seriously after watching a World Poker Tour on television. He has been playing professional poker for two years now.

When David Robbins entered the world of professional poker, he admitted that he needed a lot of advice in order to improve his skills. One such example would have been when “Captain” Tom Franklin indicated that everytime David ended up short-stacked he would begin to speed up. This advice would later help David Robbins improve his game and subsequently raise his chances of winning more often. David Robbins also owes his gratitude to friends for helping him learn poker, though professional poker and poker played at home are not the same.

At first, his wife did not take to well to the idea of professional poker. But after watching a women win over $25,000 at a poker event when accompanying her husband to watch his game, she was thoroughly convinced and is now David Robbins favorite poker buddy. These days he is a regular player in home games in Atlanta City, Georgia, where more than forty players are hosted.

His most memorable game was at the Gulf Coast Poker Championship held in the year 2007. David Robbins walked away with 2nd place and total earnings in excess of $400,000 after being defeated by Bill Edler, who took 1st place and a total of $747,615. David Robbins has also won 1st place at the Grand Casino Tunica Poker Tournament, a WSOP Circuit Event.

As a friendly gesture, Robbins does his best to make his opponents feel at ease. He does admit though that it gives him the edge over his opponents in a game. Robbins also possesses another quality - sense of humor, and jokingly says that his opponents won’t mind sacrificing their hand in exchange for a good laugh.
