Bruno Fitoussi is a French professional poker player who was born in Paris on September 21, 1958. He traveled to America and visited Las Vegas in 1991, which is where he first learned how to play limit games. When Isabelle, now his wife, flew down to join Bruno Fitoussi, they decided to get married in Las Vegas. Their trip eventually came to an end and they traveled back home together. They still live in the French capital city with their two children, Jason-Bowie and Fleur-Ilana, who are responsible for inspiring their father to play poker in and around France.
Bruno Fitoussi studied architecture at school, but after graduation, he ran a music company where he worked as a music publisher and producer. After a successful run of four years, he sold his music business in order to make enough money to pursue his poker career. He started by playing high-limit games with high-rolling friends and earned a good reputation among them.
In 1995, Bruno Fitoussi set up and managed France’s first poker card room at the Aviation Club de France on the Champs-Elysées in Paris. This card room became extremely popular and is now considered to be the leading poker venue in the country. However, he resigned his official position at the club and started VIP-Gaming in 1999.
On June 5, 2001, Bruno Fitoussi tasted his first victory at a major live tournament, the Austrian Masters and World Heads-Up Championship. He defeated Amarillo Slim Preston, an American professional poker player, in the Grand Final of the Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em event to take home over a hundred thousand dollars. Within two weeks of this win, he finished first at the Summer Tournament in the Pot-Limit Omaha event.
In 2003, Bruno Fitoussi had a couple of big cashes at the international level. He pocketed $53,329 for his eighth-place finish at the Five-Star World Poker Classic - WPT Championship Season 1 in the No-Limit Hold’em event. On May 23, 2003, he placed fifteenth in the No-Limit Hold’em event at the World Series of Poker and made $65,000.
At the 36th Annual World Series of Poker, which was held on June 29, 2005, Bruno Fitoussi was the runner-up in the WSOP Limit Razz event and bagged $70,275. The next year, he finished second at the Five-Star World Poker Classic - WPT Championship Season 4 tournament, earning $141,310 in the No-Limit Hold’em event. He also cashed in the 37th Annual World Series of Poker the same year and finished fifth in the Pot-Limit Omaha event, making $54,486.
One of his biggest wins was at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker. Bruno Fitoussi was the runner-up at the WSOP No-Limit Hold’em Championship event on June 24, 2007 and went home with $1,278,720. He also had an impressive finish in 2008 at the Five Star World Classic Poker Classic/World Poker Tournament World Championship Season 6, where he walked away in second place with $205,385. Bruno Fitoussi, as of 2008, has approximately 23 cashes, 2 first-place finishes, and over $2,200,000 in total live tournament winnings.
Nicknamed “King”, Bruno Fitoussi has starred in the poker show, Late Night Poker, and finished in seventh place during the televised episode. When he is not playing poker, he runs VIP-Gaming as the president, works as an architect, and trades on the stock market.
