Amir Vahedi is an Iranian professional poker player, born in 1961 in Tehran, Iran and currently residing in Sherman Oaks, California. He spent his early years in the Iranian army, fighting in the Iran-Iraq war. Amir Vahedi managed to escape from it and moved to Germany, where he received refugee status. Later, Amir Vahedi arrived to California with his brother and worked at several places, before discovering poker in 1997.
Amir Vahedi is the proud owner of one World Series Of Poker bracelet, gained at the WSOP 2003 No Limit Texas Holdem event, making 2003 a successful year for him. He was named “Texas No Limit Hold’em” player of the year 2001 and Season Three champion of the Ultimate Poker Challenge. Amir Vahedi has got total winnings of more than three million dollars, along with 22 first place finishes.
As well as being a very talented poker player, Amir Vahedi is also a poker tutor, teaching none other than the Hollywood celebrity actor Ben Affleck. Amir Vahedi has a very unpredictable style of playing, which makes it very difficult for players to read him.
