Since the revealing of the true identify of Isildur1 as Swedish player Viktor Blom, he could be investigated by the Swedish version of the IRS, the Skatterverket. The agency has been targeting players who live in Sweden but play in sites which are not located in the European Union in an effort to recoup taxes which have gone unreported.
It seems the main target of their initial investigation is online poker phenomenon Viktor Blom. The Swede has reportedly accrued tax liabilities of up to $150 million dollars in his notorious high stakes games on an online poker room.
Swedish law dictates that all residents need to pay tax on any poker and gambling winnings unless their play is on sites based in the EU. Isildur1, Blom, played at both won and lost at sites which do not fall into this criteria thus enabling the authorities to believe they have a case against them..
Players who play outside the Europeans Unions are subject to a tax rate of 30% on each winning pot, and since Blom took home literally millions of dollars in prize money in sites not allowed by Sweden, he might owe the tax man almost as much as $150 million.
Blom moved to the UK last year’s probably to avoid paying taxes on his poker winnings. This might solve a little bit of the mystery as to why he took so long to disclose his true identity.

Its seems rumors are circulating the Isildur1, the mysterious high stakes superstars who we’ve covered from day 1 of his venture into the online poker world, is on the verge of being signed by a major poker room. The Swedish players, whose identity has been the subject of many a debate is reasoned to be 20 year old Swede Viktor Blom, but this cannot be confirmed or denied
According to Swedish newspaper Expressen blogger Sohello Shah who writes about poker, the high stakes player has already signed an exclusive deal with one of the major online poker sites. This again has led to much speculation by the poker community as to who this could be/
Shad left clues that t “[the player in question] is 20 and has been the talk of the poker world since 2009,”. This again leads us to believe that this player in question as it pretty much fits the profile is indeed Isildur1. Apparently this deal has been on the books for some time but has just been a matter of specific in terms of the players negotiating terms.
If and when this announcement is made it seems Isidulr1’s identity will most likely be named.

Isilsdur1’s return to online poker has not really gone as well as he would’ve liked. He took a long hiatus from high stakes online poker for the past couple of months and landed up returning to the tables yesterday. It seems that his poker play which once was unbeatable has now become very much beatable. His attempt at Full Tilt Poker left him $225,000 poorer after just one day of play.
Last night, rather than playing against the normal high profile competition that he’s used to, the Swedish high rolling poker madman took on two lesser-0known, though still highly competent poker players, bemyguestbud and KTPKOP. Both players are no newbie’s to high stakes either. His opponents are no fish either, with over $1 million in winnings on the online poker scene each.
Last night’s losses put Isildur1 in the negative once again. His play last night probably put him down around $230.00 for October in less than a week. Although his play is extremely exciting, he could hju8sty as easily disappear as he did for the past couple of months.

After writing 2 successive blog posts about Isildur1 and really enjoying the fact that he is so vigilant about his anonymity, to the extent that he’s almost more notorious than any other poker player out there, I thought I’d provide more information about the controversial and mysterious player.
Isildur1 is an anonymous Swedish high stakes online poker player. He started getting noticed in late 2009 when he took part in all ten of the largest pots in online poker history. During this time he played against poker greats such as Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Brian Townsend, Cole South and Patrik Antonius at stakes that went as high as $500/$1000. On 15th November 2009, he had made a total winning amount of $5 million but by mid December, he was down to $2 million net.
One of his bad losses was featured in yesterday’s blog entry when he lost to Brian Hastings in a game that many say was unfairly won by Hastings.
After this collapse a number of regular opponents commented on his collapse. Ilari Sahamies said: “He’s playing 9 tables at once against Patrik [Antonius], [Phil] Ivey, and durrrr [Tom Dwan] – the guy must be missing a chromosome.”
Isildur1 is such a formidable force in No Limit Hold’em that many players refuse to play him. He did play against Phil Ivey after challenging him but lost to Ivey after a 3 day game, incurring a $3.2 million loss, and stating that Ivey was the toughest opponent he’d ever played.

A rivalry that has been on hold since last year was resumed recently when mystery poker phenomenon Isildur1 and US poker pro Brian Hastings met to play in an $500/$1,000 pot limit Omaha grudge match that was spread across six tables and 2,776 hands.
Brian Hastings won $4 million from Isildur1 late last year but his win was tainted by allegations that he had been using player notes taken by his buddy and Full Tilt Red Pro, Brian Townsend, on the faceless Swede. This recent game was seen as a chance for Isildur1 to restore justice.
Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on whose camp you’re in, there was no scandal this time and Hastings won yet again with Isildur1 paying out a jaw-stopping $1,445,177 to Hastings. This defeat is rumoured to have cleaned Isuldur1 out, again.

Last week I posted about Isildur1 and the record pot of $878,000 breaking a year old record and on this time the record stood for only 48 hours. The new record stands at a staggering $1,356,946!. These has been an intense week of showdown between Isildur1 and Patrik Atonius with Isildur the young Swede mostly loosing these hands.
In the past couple of weeks it’s quite amazing to see that Isildur1 has been involved in 5 of the 6 largest pots in online gambling history, though mostly of them, they were all in all worth over around $800K
In this most recent tournmanet, the game of choice was Omaha. Isildur1 started with
and
and Antonius

. The preflop betting was ridiculous! Isildur1 raise to $3000, Antonius to $9,000, not wanting to be pushed around by the Finish guy, Isildur1 raised to $27,000 and finally, $81,000. The flop came and it seemed everybody was happy with

. All in all this money came in together in the middle of the table at a total value of $1.3 million! The turn and river failed for Isildur1 and the virtual chips moved their way over to the Finn.
But enough speak for now. Check this video one of our players sent me. Quite funny.
