Online casino player refuses prize money

Sayno

Online casino and land-based casino players alike play for the thrill of winning that elusive jackpot, especially when it’s a progressive jackpot. They spend countless hours and pennies playing these games in the hope of being that lucky player. Like so many things in life this luck can be turned around quite quickly.

In rather bizarre and ironic news a Chinese online player won a progressive jackpot of £4444 but refused to accept the prize because the number apparently holds very negative connotations in Chinese culture. The Chinese word for the number “4” is pronounced in the same way that the word “death” is and this was seen as a bad omen.

He should just donate 1 quid to charity and then it’ll amount to £3999, that’s what I’d do.

Or he could just donate the money to me.

I read a post earlier about how Chinese people are looking to the sky's to see if ufo's are there before they play for good luck. It sounds weird that someone would give a prize up but in the us to some Christians the number 666 is also bad. I think there is probably something in each culture that has bad omens that people may not want to accept the prize if it will bring them bad luck.
