iPhone App developer Michael Burford has only two words to describe the decision by Apple to remove 2 of his applications made for the App store: ‘It sucks’
Burford’s “Poker vs. Girls” and “Poker vs. Guys” , have been deleted from the App store. These games allowed users to play Texas Hold’em poker against scantily clad men and women on their iPhones.
This is disappointing to Burford because his game “Poker vs. Girls” had consistently been in the top 100 games in the App Store.
Burford’s company sells about 20 other iPhone apps but “Poker vs. Girls” was one of Headlight Software’s top apps while “Poker Vs. Guys” never did as well. Burford is perplexed as to why these apps were removed when they didn’t include photo galleries and always encouraged good game play.
Despite the removal of these two apps, Burford is still continuing to develop products for the iPhone. The company’s recent ‘Knife Dancing’ app reached the No. 2 spot in the free app category, softening the blow somewhat.
“The part of us that’s grumpy at some of the App Store policies is much smaller than the part that’s walking around in a daze and jumping for joy thanks to the App Store,” said Burford.
On a lighter note, Burford submitted another new game to the App Store for approval. The game is called “Poker vs. Strong Female Role Models”. “Play poker against smart, career-minded women,” this tongue and cheek app description says. “A college professor, an author, a doctor, a librarian, a pilot, a musician, a computer programmer, and a mathematician.”
The iPhone App Store should love that.
