Phil Laak, known to the non-poker world as Jennifer Tillys’ boyfriend, has done another one of those amazing feats that poker players tend to do, has set the Guinness Book of World Record for longest 'poker endurance'
Laak broke two records on Saturday, the unofficial record used to belong to Paul Zimbler which was 78 hours, 45 minutes as well as the official record of Larry Olmsted, which was set at Foxwood casino in 2004.
The 37 year old poker professional starting playing at 12pm last week Wednesday and quit on Monday at 7 in the morning. He claimed that he could still go on but decided that he didn't want to "do any more damage to my body than necessary."
Laak was permitted a 5 minute breaks for every hour that he played and he could cumulatively combine e these into longer breaks. Whilst Laak vowed that he did not consume any caffeine or stimulants, he did get in a 30 minute nap.
Laak is expected to submit paperwork and video evidence to the Guinness people this week, but it’s pretty evident from the 130,000 or so people that watched him via webcam each day from over 90 nations.
