A prolific poker player today, Isabelle Mercier started out as a lawyer; she worked as a commercial lawyer for a year after completing her studies at the University of Montreal. The club completely changed her life; she got completely hooked to the game of poker and decided to make a living by playing professional poker. Within the first year as a poker player, this Canadian lady managed more than 10 final tables. After a string of cashes at small poker events, Isabelle Mercier made her mark in the world of professional poker with a sterling display of poker skills at the Grand Final Event – EPT/Pokerstars Season 1. She finished in the 1st place in a No Limit Hold’em event and took home $33,631 as the prize money. The same year saw Isabelle Mercier compete with the best poker professionals at the Five-Star World Poker Classic - WPT Championship Season 3 in the WPT Main Event - No Limit Hold'em and do exceedingly well. She finished in the 28th place and pocketed $56,615 as the prize money.
The cashes kept coming in for Isabelle Mercier in the next year as well; at The French Open – EPT/Pokerstars Seasons 2, she competed in the EPT No Limit Hold’em event and ended up in the 7th place with the prize money of $79,686. The year 2006 particularly proved to be an excellent one for Isabelle Mercier as she managed the kind of success, which was unheard of for a woman poker player. The 37th Annual World Series of Poker, held in July 2006, saw her finish in the 5th place in Event #9 – WSOP No Limit Hold’em and take home $175,404, her biggest winnings till date.
